6 Reasons for failures E-commerce in Pakistan and what its future is?

E-commerce is the buying and selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or data, over electronic data, primarily the internet.

E-commerce in Pakistan has not gained the pace that the other countries have gained. Trade in the world has shifted to online. In Pakistan, it did not gain pace due to the following reasons.

Reasons why E-commerce failed in Pakistan:

1. Lack of trust:

Despite knowing what e-commerce is and how beneficial it could it be, there are almost no efforts from higher authorities to establish it in Pakistan.
The population is under impression that buying and selling online is full of scams and fraud which is why people prefer to check things in real before buying people do not trust things that they have not seen on occasion.

      2. Delusion related to e-commerce:

Most of the people of Pakistan are under false impressions about e-commerce, how it works which products can be sold or bought and how processing will be done e-commerce in Pakistan, is only limited to products that can be digitalized over the internet thereby completely forgetting about the other services and facilities offered over the internet. This not only reduces the customer base but also reduces the number of customers.

      3. No concealment of personal data:

People in Pakistan have a perception that sharing personal data such as contact numbers, addresses and debit card details with online businesses is not safe. So they don’t know the business owners. They don’t trust there have been many cases where people's personal information was miss used.

      4. Lack of technology and internet:

Internet and technology have reached almost all over Pakistan including the small villages. However. There are still places where basic internet facility is either too expensive or of lesser quality, this stops people from doing online business.

      5. Inappropriate transportation of products:

Out of many issues faced by E-commerce, transportation adds one more store up to the pile. Inappropriate transportation causes mishandling of orders and damage of goods. No one buyers want to wear and tear on their goods. They prefer perfect and on-time delivery of their goods when such an incident occurs the buyer does not even think about online shopping for next time.

      6. Product photos:

As the old goes “A picture is worth a thousand words” if a visitor does not want to read multiple paragraphs, they can learn about your product by looking at the pictures.
In Pakistan, there is no description and no zoom picture effect in the product pictures which won’t attract customers.
Some site product picture does not have multiple angles or shot of the back show it also fails E-commerce because user can not go to visit or buy.

Future of E-commerce in Pakistan:

Pakistan is one of the fastest-growing E-business countries with more payment gateways and increasing coverage of 3G and 4G networks. Pakistan's E-commerce sales in 2017 were $622 million, 0.34% of the real market which is doubling every year. It is expected to cross 1 billion USD by the end of 2021. There is a lot of scope for E-commerce in Pakistan, and most companies are eager to go into the digital world. Companies have started realizing the potential of E-commerce and electronic data interchange in Pakistan, so the future of e-commerce in Pakistan is bright.
